Karbala University Faculty of Medicine holds a training course on chromosome analysis “karyotyping”

The microbiology branch at the Faculty of Medicine, Karbala University held a training course entitled (chromosome analysis)

The course aimed to learn the importance of chromosomal analysis and chromosomal analysis is used to detect chromosomal abnormalities and therefore it is a useful tool in the diagnosis of some genetic diseases, birth defects, and certain disorders in the blood or lymphatic system, including some chromosomal disorders that can be detected using chromosomal analysis Down syndrome, Patau syndrome.

The course included examining and evaluating the number and structure of a person’s chromosomes and detecting the presence of chromosomal abnormalities as well as changes in both the number or structure of chromosomes, as the presence of any number other than ٤٦ of chromosomes represents a change in the genetic material present in cells, which may lead to developmental problems, and other health problems.
