An anatomy instructor at Karbala University Faculty of Medicine participated in the defense of a master’s thesis at Nahrain University. M. Dr. Ahmed Hamza Abboud defended the master’s thesis of the researcher (Ali Shaker Abed) entitled “Quantification of CD271 immune histochemical expression of mesenchymal stem cells in the early and postnatal human umbilical cord”
CD271 immunohistochemical expression of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) revealed high significant values in the umbilical cord after the expected date of delivery from the early umbilical cord due to oxidative stress that may accompany the early stage of labor that reveals low numbers of cell divisions of MSCs in the umbilical cord and this may be due to cells damaged by oxidative stress.
