The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, called for the establishment and announcement of the Arab Higher Education Area project under the umbrella of the Association of Arab Universities.
This was stated in his speech during the official opening of the general conference of the Association of Arab Universities, amidst a distinguished Arab academic presence, where he emphasized that the conference of the Association of Arab Universities represents a valuable opportunity for the cross-fertilization of ideas and the exchange of views on ways to develop higher education in the Arab region, calling for the establishment and announcement of the Arab Higher Education Area and pointing out that this proposed initiative and this project includes an important roadmap to undermine the challenges and expand the scope of joint work, similar to the experience of establishing the European Higher Education Area, and to support and enhance the climates of reform in institutions and provide solutions to many of the difficulties facing Arab universities and educational institutions.
He added that the real, continuous, and effective interlocking between Arab universities is likely to narrow the gap between Arab educational spaces and opens the field for productive interaction with the solid educational environments in many world capitals.
In the context of the opening activities of the general conference of the Association of Arab Universities, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research honored the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, Dr. Amro Ezzat Salama, the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Research Councils, Dr. Abdul Majid bin Amara, the President of the University of Sousse, Dr. Lotfi Belkacem, and the President of Al-Mustanir University, Dr. El Hadi Belhaj Saleh, expressing his confidence in strengthening the position of Arab universities in the field of academic, scientific, and research contributions.”
