The minister of higher education and scientific research, Dr. Naim al-Aboudi, chaired the regular meeting of the opinion committee in the presence of the advanced staff and the heads of public universities.
The minister of Education directed all universities to respond and interact with the requirements of the labor market and the need of society for developmental specialties, stressing the importance of preparing the necessary realistic plans for admission to graduate studies for the academic year 2025/2024 again, at the same time to proceed with granting non-exclusive legal powers to universities and enabling them to achieve their mission and goals in providing educational services.
The meeting discussed a project related to the establishment of an electronic system for the management of scientific and administrative procedures for graduate students and supervision of them, while the heads of technical universities reviewed a number of proposals that would strengthen the environment of technical institutes and stimulate their climates in attracting students according to studied ratios.
The members of the opinion committee voted on a number of resolutions, including 👇:
▪️Adopting the recommendations of the tot training course on psychological counseling and educational guidance formations and activating their activities in all universities.
▪️ Setting a time limit of no more than three months for submitting plans of public and private universities, their faculties and departments to complete the requirements of institutional and programmatic accreditation.
▪️Approval of the establishment of the evening study in the Department of cybersecurity at the Faculty of Computer Science and mathematics at the University of Mosul.
▪️ Approval to grant graduate students transferred from outside Iraq in accordance with the regulations a new study leave in terms of the duration of study and its promise in terms of contractual obligations complementary to study outside Iraq with the student’s commitment to serve twice the duration of study inside and outside Iraq to ensure the financial amounts spent by their departments.
▪️ Address the situation of scholarship students, fellowship and study leave students who have previously been considered dismissed from the job for not returning after obtaining the contracted certificate by obliging them to fulfill the contractual obligation of serving twice the period of study in state departments after being appointed by the Federal Service Council, provided that there are no judicial decisions obliging them to repay the financial amounts spent on them.
At the end of the meeting, the minister of Education urged to stimulate research and sober scientific publishing and disburse a financial reward worth three million dinars and a book of thanks and appreciation for teachers who publish their research in scientific journals affiliated to (Nature and Science Journals) and(TOP Journals in shanghai Ranking).
