Karbala University organizes a festival on the occasion of Karbala Day

Karbala University organized a festival on the occasion of Karbala Day, which coincides with the birth of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) every year.

The festival, titled “Hussein (peace be upon him) as a Shining Beacon for Nations to Follow,” was attended by the Governor of Karbala, Engineer Nassif Jassem Al-Khattabi, the Chairman and members of the Provincial Council, several government department directors, the Director of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Office in the province, Ali Kamouna, and a group of university presidents, deans, and students.

In his speech to the attendees, the President of Karbala University, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, stated that “Karbala of Hussein today is not just a place of remembrance and worship, but has become an important cultural, educational, and religious center, as it hosts many schools, religious seminaries, and cultural centers that contribute to spreading the knowledge of Ahl al-Bayt and the teachings of Islam.”

The President of the University called for following the footsteps of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in various aspects of life, pointing out that students have the right to be proud of this glorious legacy and to make it their guiding light.

For his part, the Governor of Karbala noted that “the approach of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is a message of a dignified life,” emphasizing that the local government in Karbala is moving forward with strength towards progress and prosperity, benefiting from all the beacons of knowledge in the city, and confirming its commitment to the path of construction, reconstruction, and development.

In a related context, the Chairman of the Provincial Council, Dr. Qasim Al-Yasiri, mentioned that the legislative authority in the province is determined to continue achieving development and enacting laws that serve the people of Karbala, drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of the Master of Martyrs (peace be upon him).
