The College of Education for Humanities at Karbala University organized a ceremony to honor the winners of the “Be a Reader” competition, attended by the university president, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Jassim Eidani Al-Mamouri, the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Mohammad Imran, the Dean of the College, Dr. Hadi Al-Saeedi, along with several faculty members, staff, and students.
In his speech during the ceremony, the university president emphasized that reading is the window through which individuals can view other cultures and understand others’ perspectives on the world.
Wajid stated, “Reading enables a person to acquire skills and improve communication abilities, as well as protect themselves from being influenced by negative and misleading opinions,” urging students to adhere to religious, social, and ethical principles.
Dr. Abbas Al-Amiri, the representative of the supervising committee for the competition, added that the cultural competition is one of the activities the college is keen to organize to create positive movement within the college.
The top five winners were:
- Abir Adnan Alwan from the English Department
- Zainab Al-Hawraa Azeem from the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences
- Hawraa Ali Hussein from the Department of Applied Geography
- Fatima Hazem Kazem from the History Department
- Zainab Taha Issa from the Arabic Language Department
