The Arab Board of Family Medicine thesis in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the College of Medicine at the University of Karbala discussed depression in patients with chronic renal failure, as the thesis submitted by the researcher (Nour Kol Burhan Musa) was titled “Depression in patients with chronic renal failure who visit the dialysis unit in Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) Medical City”

The study aimed to know the prevalence of depression among patients with chronic renal failure who visit the dialysis unit and its relationship to the demographic characteristics of the patients. The study showed that 67% of referred patients suffer from depression to varying degrees.

The study found that the prevalence of depression among chronic renal failure patients in the dialysis departments of Imam Hussein Medical City was high, and it was found that more than two-thirds of the patients, or 67% of the patients, suffer from depression to varying degrees.
