The master’s thesis in the Department of Clinical Chemistry, College of Medicine, University of Karbala discussed the preparation of nano curcumin to determine its medical benefit as a treatment for patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The thesis submitted by the researcher (Nasreen Ghaleb Obaid) was entitled “Preparation of nano curcumin to determine its medical benefit as a treatment for patients with rheumatoid arthritis in women”.

The discussion committee consisted of:

Which studied all the properties of (curcumin-Neohia). The study aimed to prepare a nanocomposite of curcumin with niosomes and encapsulate it with hyaluronic acid to produce chemical, physical and molecular properties, as well as to study its effect on the disease by incubating it with peripheral blood mononuclear cells isolated from the blood of rheumatoid arthritis patients. The study also achieved great success through the effect of the manufactured nanomaterial distinguished by several chemical techniques on the levels of some oxidants and antioxidants in the blood serum, including (malondyl catalase glutathione reductase) and their biochemical balance, as well as its effect on the levels of some inflammatory and anti-inflammatory indicators such as (interleukin-10 and interleukin-6) and the balance between them. The results of the study showed their return to their normal levels, in addition to studying the effect of the nanomaterial (Real-Time PCR), which was monitored using the (Gene-Expression) technique on genetic change.
