Dean of Karbala College of Medicine chairs the Curriculum Committee meeting
The Dean of the College of Medicine, University of Karbala, Professor Dr. Riyad Dhihud Al-Zubaidi, chaired the Curriculum Committee meeting, which was held on Sunday, 6/30/2024, in the presence of members of the Curriculum Committee.
Al-Zubaidi explained during the meeting that every college or educational institution has a curricula committee, as the nature of this committee can make changes in the curricula, according to the percentages decided by the ministry, which range between 10% – 20%, and these percentages are considered very important.
Explain how these changes occur based on feedback, from teachers, students, beneficiaries, university graduates, or by reviewing developments occurring around the world. All of these variables contribute to reproducing and considering the results. Then we present these results and the observations of teachers, students and beneficiaries. Then we look at the world’s colleges, how they have developed, and what the country’s need is. All of these variables contribute to changing and developing the curriculum. Therefore, there are commissioned committees. Each of these committees consists of a number of members associated with the dean of the college, and each member of this committee represents one of the branches. The college includes eleven branches, after which the subject is studied in terms of the curriculum and its basic pillars.
Al-Zubaidi pointed out that developing or amending the curriculum is done with the approval of the College Council, and then it is submitted to the university presidency and the relevant authorities in the Deans’ Committee or the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
