As part of the activities of the Psychological Counseling Unit, the College of Medicine at the University of Karbala held a training course in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (CBT), which lasts for three days, in which Professor Dr. Ali Tariq Abdul Hussein lectured.
The course included an explanation about accepting and committing to treatment (therapeutic acceptance and commitment) as a practical approach in psychotherapy, which belongs to the family of cognitive behavioral therapies, and is compatible with the third wave of cognitive behavioral therapies.
Dr. Ali Tariq also added: The primary goal of acceptance and commitment therapy is to promote greater psychological flexibility in the face of challenges while improving active participation in the individual’s life. The end result is greater life satisfaction in the face of a wide range of mental and physical challenges.
The course targets graduate students, professors from within the university campus, and specialists in the medical and health fields
