The College of Medicine at the University of Karbala organized a scientific awareness symposium on cybersecurity

in collaboration with the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the University of Karbala. The symposium, titled “Cybersecurity Awareness,” took place on Monday, February 19, 2024.

During the event, Dr. Mohammed Mohsen Al-Abbadi, an expert in cybersecurity and a faculty member at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Karbala, delivered a presentation. The symposium aimed to enhance awareness among participants, including faculty members, staff, and students of the university, regarding the importance of cybersecurity. It emphasized the need to establish necessary standards, procedures, and effective methods to safeguard the privacy of digital and paper-based data, preventing unauthorized access and ensuring protection against malicious activities. Topics covered during the symposium included user privacy definitions, privacy policies, data usage by social media platforms, prevention of phishing attacks, and identifying malicious websites. Additionally, practical tips were provided to protect users while browsing the internet.
