The faculty member in the College of Medicine of Karbala University, Mr. Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Ali Abdul Reda Abu Tahin, published a scientific research entitled “Stigma Acceptance and Its Determinants among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes in Iraq” in the Journal of the Egyptian Public Health Association, classified within the Scopus containers (first quarter Q1).
The study aims to assess the extent of social stigma associated with diabetes among patients with type 2 diabetes, where the study sample consisted of 429 diabetic patients from Najaf Governorate.
The study found that 25% of patients suffer from a high level of stigma due to problems and that the average degree of stigma among diabetic patients was much higher among patients with low education, low income, divorced or widowed status, or old age, and also higher among the unemployed or housewives.
