The College of Medicine, Karbala University, organized a scientific symposium in which each of

- Dr. Hazem Mojid Abbas
Student Dia Hisham Aziz
In it, she discussed Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults
The disorder was related to mental health and involved a range of persistent problems, such as difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity, and impulsive behaviour
Dr. Hazem Mojed also told us that ADHD in adults can lead to unstable relationships, poor work or school performance, low self-confidence, and other problems.
Therefore, all workers in the education and higher education system need to know the signs of this disorder in order to deal with those affected in a manner that guarantees positive psychological health and adaptive academic performance.
Although it’s called adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, symptoms begin in early childhood and continue into adulthood. However, in some cases, adult ADHD isn’t recognized or diagnosed until the person reaches adulthood. Symptoms of ADHD in adults may not be as pronounced as symptoms in children
As for adults: hyperactivity may decrease, but symptoms of impulsiveness, agitation, and distraction may persist.
Dr. Ali Tariq also stressed that the treatment of ADHD in adults is similar to the treatment of ADHD in children. However, it includes treating adult ADHD with medications, mental health counseling (psychotherapy), and treatment of any mental health conditions associated with the disorder.
