Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Medicine
Mr. Dr. Riyad Dhihoud Al-Zubaidi, the Faculty of Medicine, University of Karbala, held a scientific course in cooperation between the Family and Community Medicine Branch and the Orthodontic Quality Assurance Committee, where the orthodontic in medicine is the main engine of the learning process and it is the main means to verify that the student has acquired the competencies expected of him to pass from one stage to another
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Hashem spoke to us that the course discussed in the first workshop the issue of determining the passing score in the OSCII exam, which is the best standard test for evaluating clinical competencies. The method used in the college to determine the passing score was also discussed, which is
( borderline regression )
Which is one of the most widely used methods globally for this purpose because of its statistical and educational computational advantages at the same time. The discussion focused on the importance of global rating in determining the passing score and its relationship to the checklist degree in order to choose a fair and equitable passing score for the OSC exam while maintaining a high level of educational standards.
This was also followed by an applied practice by conducting a live simulation of the Oski station under the supervision of Dr. Noura Sabah, Head of the Women’s Branch, and with the participation of three teaching assistants of the Women’s Branch. They simulated the role of the patient and the student with good and bad performance, and were evaluated by all participants in the course for training purposes.
