A scientific course in the use of PCR and DNA extraction in Karbala Medicine

The College of Medicine, University of Karbala, Microbiology Branch, held a training course in the use of laboratory techniques for the period from (23-25 May), including the use of the pcr technique

The course included a historical and introductory overview of DNA extraction methods, its medical and forensic applications, the process of amplifying the target gene using the PCR technique, and moving on to using the gel electrophoresis technique to migrate samples depending on their size, and then seeing the results using a UV light device.

The purpose of using this technique

It is the detection of genetic mutations and the detection of viruses and bacteria, which is the most accurate way to determine the type and genus of a virus or bacteria

And set the fingerprint and many other goals

The course targeted postgraduate students in the college, studies students from other colleges, and professors of the microbiology branch in the college.

For his part, Assistant Lecturer Heba Mahdi added that the course includes workshops, training for the attendees, and practical applications in modern PCR techniques and very accurate DNA extraction.
