A research discussion took place in the College of Medicine for a student of the Iraqi Council for Medical Specialization in pathology / pathological histology, which is considered as part of the requirements for obtaining a board certificate (PhD) in pathology for a board student (Heba Moayad Al-Yasiri), which bore the title
Status of TFF3 expression in prostatic adenocarcinoma in a group of Iraqi patients
Expression status of TFF3 in prostate cancer in a group of Iraqi patients
Aim of the study :
Evaluation of TFF3 expression in prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia and its association with histological differentiation, perineural invasion and lymphatic vessels, and some clinical variables such as age and PSA level, and confirming the importance of its use as a diagnostic marker for prostate cancer.
Among the results of this dissertation were:
The increase in the expression of TFF3 factor as the degree of differentiation of prostate cancer and the level of PSA increased, which indicates that it can be used as a diagnostic marker for prostate cancer. The thesis came out with recommendations:
1- Expression of TFF3 factor in benign prostatic hyperplasia may be a precursor to the development of prostate cancer. A large cohort study is recommended to confirm or deny this hypothesis.
2- The need to correlate with molecular analysis such as F.I.S.H – P.C.R western blot- to confirm the relationship between TFF3 factor and prostate cancer.
3- More clinical information is recommended for the study regarding tumor stage and tumor size.
The esteemed committee supervising the dissertation, after the researcher defended her study, was awarded an “excellent” rating
