This study aimed to evaluate preventive measures against the Corona epidemic among secondary school students in Karbala.
The sample of the study included 384 students from middle and preparatory schools for both sexes, and from different schools in Karbala governorate, which included government schools in the city center and government schools in the city’s countryside, in addition to private schools. The study found that the awareness rate of students against the Corona virus had reached 72.94%, with the presence of many factors that had a role in increasing this percentage, as it was found that the spread of awareness was wider among middle school students.
This study also found that about 68.38% of the students practice preventive habits against the Corona virus. The results also showed: – (a- female students, b- students whose parents are at an educational level read and write only, c- students of the sixth preparatory grade, d- students of rural public schools) are the most used of preventive measures to confront the Corona virus.
The study also found that private schools were the best in providing a healthy environment suitable for virus prevention, and that (female students, students under 15 years of age and middle school students) are more satisfied with what their school institutions offer.
This study recommended the importance of having training programs for teachers to ensure that they are well equipped to guide students to prevent the virus. As well as the need for a training program for nurses and health care providers to secondary school students, both verbally and in writing.
