Ali Musa Al-Musawi, the teaching professor in the Family and Community Medicine Branch, participated in the 16th International Scientific Conference, which was held on May 20, 2022 at the College of Medicine, Al-Mustansiriya University, with the participation and attendance of members from the college and a large number of Iraqi doctors from different countries of the world.
The conference included many scientific researches in various medical specialties, including the presentation of a paper by Prof. Dr. Ali Musa Al-Musawi under the title Attacks on Doctors in Karbala and Baghdad Hospitals in 2021.
The study showed that (75%) of the new doctors are subjected to verbal or physical abuse, and there is no difference in that between females and males. The weak role of the police in protecting doctors for fear of clan persecution, which leads to the impunity of most of the aggressors because the legal procedures are complex and require the victim to go to the police station and then follow up on the matter in the courts as if the attack was personal and not against an institution representing the state, according to the Doctors Protection Law No. 26 of 2013 The legal department will initiate and follow up the case and ensure that the aggressor is punished.
This phenomenon is followed by severe consequences represented in the decline in the level of services provided to the auditors and the emigration of doctors outside Iraq, and the duty to address it falls on the state represented by the Ministry of Health and the Physicians Syndicate. Social networking sites play a negative role in exacerbating the problem by spreading misleading news, while excluding positive news such as the role of the White Army during the Corona epidemic crisis.
