The Family and Community Medicine Branch of the College of Medicine and under the auspices of the President of Karbala University, Prof. Basem Khalil Nayel Al-Saidi and supervised by Dr. Riyad Dahoud Mahdi Al-Zubaidi, Dean of the College of Medicine, held a virtual scientific symposium entitled “New developments on the Corona Covid-19 pandemic” which was held on Tuesday evening 30 / 6/2020 through the zoom platform, over two and a half hours.
After a welcome speech from the dean.
Several scientific papers were presented, the first by the global public health expert, Professor Dr. Salman Al-Rawaf from Imperial University in London on the epidemiological situation, extrapolations, priorities and plans to address the epidemic in Iraq and the Eastern Mediterranean Region, then Professor Dr. Saleh Al-Hasnawi, consultant psychiatrist and former Minister of Health on psychological support and its dimensions For cadres and the injured. Dr. Ahmed Hamandi was followed by a careful specialization in hematology in a lecture on reconsidering disease classification and plasma treatment.
Then a lecture on the developments in the diagnosis of Professor Ahmed Al-Katib. Last year in doctoral studies at Tehran Medical University. Then the discussion session started with questions and answers.
More than 200 participants from medical and health cadres from various Iraqi governorates from Basra to Dohuk participated in the symposium.
In addition to a qualitative attendance of participants from Britain and several Arab countries.
The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul Redha Abu Tahin and Dr. Shahrazad Shamkhi Al-Jubouri from the Family and Community Medicine Branch. The symposium also received approval and acceptance of the topics raised and well-organized through the comments and opinions of many participants.
