The University of Karbala hosted the sixth edition of the International Imam Hussein (Peace be upon him) Conference, organized by the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine in collaboration with the University of Karbala.
The conference, titled “Prince of the Faithful (Peace be upon him) in Muslim Writings,” discussed around 160 research papers from several Iraqi and international universities.
The first day of the conference saw the unveiling of the Encyclopaedia of Ahl al-Bayt (Peace be upon them) related to the Holy Quran at the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, which comprises 60 volumes containing all the sayings of Ahl al-Bayt (Peace be upon them) related to the Holy Quran, collected over 14 years.
The second day included organizing research sessions at the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala, as well as the conclusion activities.
Attendees of the second day’s activities held at the University of Karbala included the President of the University, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, his assistant for scientific affairs, Dr. Haider Mohammed Imran, a group of college deans and researchers from inside and outside Iraq, as well as representatives from the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine and the House of the Holy Quran.
The conference made several recommendations, including approaching the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to consider the research papers presented at the conference as a source for postgraduate studies and scientific research, taking into account the Quranic impact of Imam Ali (Peace be upon him) by incorporating it into academic curricula, emphasizing the continuous search for the Quranic impact in Islamic writings in all fields, and fostering competition to attract researchers in the Quranic field, particularly highlighting the impact of Ahl al-Bayt (Peace be upon them) in the writings.
The conclusion activities witnessed the honoring of academic and religious figures who had a significant impact on the success of the conference.
The conference is considered one of the activities of the World Quran Day, organized under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine in conjunction with the birth of the Muhammadan moons and the Prophet’s Night Journey.
