Karbala University has ranked sixth locally in the UI Green Metric World Ranking for 2024.
A total of 1,477 universities from 95 countries around the world participated in the ranking, including 78 Iraqi universities.
The ranking results showed that 78 Iraqi universities achieved positive competitive positions, with the University of Babylon ranking 119th globally, followed by the universities of Anbar, Al-Mustaqbal, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical, Baghdad, Karbala, Basra, Al-Kafeel, Northern Technical, Islamic University, Sumer, Warith Al-Anbiya, Al-Mustansiriya, and other governmental and private Iraqi universities.
The UI Green Metric ranking is based on key criteria that measure indicators related to the work environment and infrastructure on campus (15%), energy and climate change (21%), waste management (18%), optimal water use (10%), education and academic programs and research (18%), and transportation and mobility on campus (18%).
Karbala University is keen on applying the criteria related to various rankings to elevate the university’s level on different fronts.
