At the Ceremony Honoring the Winners of Science Day Awards, the Minister of Education Affirms Commitment to Enhancing and Developing Scientific Research, Global Publishing, and Graduate Programs

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, affirmed the ministry’s continuous and diligent commitment to enhancing and developing scientific research, global publishing, and graduate programs.

This statement was made during his speech at the ceremony honoring the winners of Iraqi Science Day, attended by senior officials, university presidents, the president of the academics’ syndicate, deans, and a large number of faculty members, researchers, and students. He explained that the focus on science and scientific research has always been and remains the cornerstone of the ministry’s and its institutions’ performance, dominating the work and activities of Iraqi universities, their colleges, and specialized departments.

The Minister continued that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has succeeded, thanks to the efforts of its specialized scientific teams, in internationalizing higher education, establishing mutual understanding between Iraqi universities and their foreign counterparts, exchanging scholarships and research opportunities, attracting more than three thousand international students, and bringing international forums back to Baghdad, the latest being the 46th session of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils meetings hosted by the University of Baghdad.

He reiterated that the ministry is committed to enhancing and developing scientific research, global publishing, and graduate programs. These intensive measures are expected to elevate the quality and performance of academic, educational, and research institutions and provide the necessary momentum for the effectiveness of the educational process.

The ceremony included a speech by Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi, Director General of the Research and Development Department, an explanation of the presented scientific outputs and award criteria, and concluded with Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi honoring the winners of Science Day awards. The awards included Best University, Outstanding Research Center, Outstanding Research Unit, Outstanding Scientific Journal, Outstanding University Library, Outstanding Scientific Research, Outstanding Voluntary Group Work, Outstanding Authored or Translated Book, Outstanding Patents, Outstanding Scientific Journal, Outstanding Graduation Project, and Outstanding Researcher.
