The Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils held the meetings of its 46th session, hosted by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research at the University of Baghdad.
The opening activities included official speeches by Dr. Abdel Majeed Benamara, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, the President of the 45th session, a representative of the Union of Arab Universities, and the Arab League, as well as a lecture on science, technology, and innovation indicators in the Arab world.
In this context, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, welcomed the hosting of the 46th session of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, where experts and representatives of member states are discussing and strengthening the executive map of the Union’s work, elevating the level of scientific research, and stimulating the environment for joint work according to the goals and mission of academic institutions that have an impact in their Arab, regional, and global surroundings.
He explained that the challenges facing scientific research in the Arab world require working with a unified team spirit and strategic vision, affirming that the excellence of Arab universities and institutions in producing scientific research makes them worthy of occupying notable positions in global repositories and reputable platforms.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, called for the launch of the Arab Scientific Research Award, urging the General Secretariat of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils to study and adopt the proposal and add it to the approved awards to motivate Arab researchers. He also suggested forming a joint committee to organize the procedures and arrange the financial prizes allocated for this purpose.
Dr. Abdel Majeed Benamara, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, honored the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, in appreciation of his role in hosting the meetings of the 46th session. The Minister also honored representatives of scientific research associations and the representative of the Secretary-General of the Arab League.
