The Times Higher Education has released the results of its Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025, which ranks the best universities in the field of interdisciplinary scientific research for the year 2025.
The interdisciplinary science ranking evaluated 749 universities worldwide based on eleven performance indicators in three main areas: Inputs (19%), Process (16%), and Outputs (65%).
The results showed that the University of Baghdad ranked 161st globally, followed by Cihan University – Erbil, Al-Mustaqbal University, University of Babylon, University of Technology, University of Anbar, Al-Nahrain University, Al-Farahidi University, Middle Euphrates Technical University, University of Tikrit, University of Diyala, and University of Wasit.
This ranking, which is the first of its kind to measure universities’ contributions and commitment to interdisciplinary sciences, saw participation from 92 countries in terms of the number of their ranked universities. Iraq was represented by twelve universities, making it third among participating Arab countries and twentieth globally, the same contribution level as Malaysia and Poland.
