The master’s thesis in the Department of Clinical Chemistry at the College of Medicine, University of Karbala discussed the role of some biomarkers in predicting kidney function. The thesis submitted by the researcher (Ayat Khader Ali Obaid) included the title “The role of some biomarkers in predicting kidney function in polycystic kidney disease in adults”

The study also found that htTKV, NGAL and KIM-1 are major markers for monitoring chronic kidney function decline, but both (NGAL) and KIM-1 are less effective in diagnosing the early stage of chronic kidney disease
