The College of Medicine, University of Karbala, organized a scientific workshop to train volunteer students participating in the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) entitled (Basics of Work in Medical Detachments) under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Riyadh Dhyoud Al-Zubaidi, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Bashir Aqil Al-Ali, the Head of the Medical Education Unit in the College, Lecturer Dr. Ammar Majeed Mahdi, Dr. Hammam Nahed Yas, and a representative of the sixth-year students, student Ali Arif Abis, and Dr. Ali Hussam from the Karbala Health Department. The workshop aimed to train volunteers and those wishing to volunteer from the sixth-year students and graduates of the College of Medicine, Karbala, on the basics of work in medical detachments and how to prepare and be ready and confront medical emergencies. The workshop included an explanation of the necessary medical interventions and how to use the therapeutic drugs available in the medical squads, focusing on using them in the correct way, and how to provide first aid for different medical cases. The workshop also included the nature of dealing with visitors in order to provide better health care to serve the visitors of Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
