Seventy-four Iraqi universities and colleges have achieved competitive positions in the UI GreenMetric ranking for the year 2023.
The results of the rating (click here) recorded the evaluation of one thousand one hundred and eighty-three university institutions around the world, and Iraqi universities have managed to increase their global competitiveness to seventy-four institutions compared to the results of the last edition for the year 2022, which included seventy-three universities.
The UI Greenmetric rating is based on infrastructure criteria (15%), energy and climate change (21%), waste (18%), water (10%), Transport (18%), education and research (18%), as well as sustainability, environment, green spaces and energy consumption.
It is worth mentioning that the University of Babylon topped the Iraqi universities in this ranking, where it ranked 133rd globally, followed by the Universities of Anbar, Al-Mustaqbal, Baghdad, Middle Euphrates technical, Basra, Nasiriyah, Karbala, Sumer, Al-Kafeel and Qadisiyah, down to Hamdaniya University.
It is noteworthy that Iraqi universities and colleges have registered their increasing competition in global rankings, including the Shanghai Ranking of Academic Subjects for the year 2023, in which the University of Baghdad appeared within the specialization (Dentistry & Oral Sciences), The Times rating, in which there are currently thirteen universities, the QS rating, in which there are five universities, the Scimago rating, in which there are twenty-two institutions, and the in the 2023 edition, the number of Iraqi educational institutions has increased to seventy-four universities and colleges, and theنيفa classification, in which there are four Iraqi universities, is added to the Webometrics classification, which recorded the attendance and competition of more than a hundred universities And an Iraqi college.
