The times world ranking announced the results of its new edition for the year 2024, which ranked and evaluated one thousand nine hundred and four universities from one hundred and eight countries around the world.
Iraqi universities in this rating (click here) achieved a significant increase in their number compared to last year’s version, where the results recorded the achievement of thirteen universities positive ranks at the level of global competition, where the Technological University ranked (801-1000), then the University of Nahrain ranked (1201-1500), then the University of Qadisiya (1201-1500), the University of Babylon (1201-1500), Diyala University (1201-1500), then Anbar University (1501+) and Baghdad University (1501+), Basra University (1501+), Karbala University (1501+), University of Kufa (1501+), Central Technical University (1501+), Mosul University (1501+), Mustansiriya University (1501+).
The times world ranking adopts the main criteria for ranking universities based on eighteen indicators to assess and measure performance in five areas: teaching (learning environment) 29.5%, research environment 29%, Research Quality 30%, international outlook 7.5% and industry income 4%.
In this context, the representative of the Times Foundation in the Middle East and Africa, Mr. Nicholas Davis, announced during the Iraq education 2023 exhibition and conference that Iraq ranks 37th globally for the first time in light of the times results, which indicates the quality of teaching and scientific research:
