Cupping is a scientific research discussed in the family and community medicine branch

The Faculty of Medicine discussed a scientific research within the requirements of obtaining a higher diploma in family and community medicine under the title (Knowledge, trends and practices of cupping and its related effects among cuppers and cuppers in the governorates of Najaf, Karbala and Babylon 2022)

The researcher dealt with the topic of cupping; An old remedy that has been used for centuries in the treatment of various conditions and is still used and practiced among a large number of people in the world and in Iraq, as the practice of cupping was part of the culture of the Middle East and the Islamic heritage.

The study aimed to evaluate the knowledge, trends and practices of cupping and its effects on health as one of the ancient traditional treatment methods in Najaf, Karbala and Babel governorates in Iraq during the year 2022.

The researcher reached the conclusion on two participating groups, 70 cupping service providers and 426 cupping users with regard to cupping service providers.

It was concluded that the knowledge, attitudes and practices of the participants (cupping service providers and users) are sufficient and acceptable. However, there is an urgent need for professional training for cupping service providers and more regulations for traditional treatment that is widely used by the population in Iraq in order to reduce the negative effects and complications of this treatment and ensure the safety of users This is the traditional method of treatment.
