A scientific study at the University of Karbala on a comparative evaluation of insulin resistance in polycystic ovary syndrome

She discussed a dissertation at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Karbala, by the student Hadbaa Halwas Baaywi in clinical chemistry, entitled (A comparative study to evaluate insulin resistance by different methods and its association with the polymorphism of 10- Calpain gene in polycystic ovary syndrome among Iraqi women

The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of obesity and insulin resistance in PCOS patients, in addition to using different methods to assess insulin sensitivity.

Through her research, she concluded that the method of measuring insulin resistance using glucose and triglycerides is a good, low-cost and reliable method in assessing insulin resistance in polycystic ovary syndrome.

After the student defended her thesis, the esteemed committee decided to grant the student a master’s degree with distinction
