In response to a request from the Minister of Higher Education, a government meeting approved recommendations to ensure the continuation of studies and to address challenges.

The Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Helou Al-Askari, participated in a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office to discuss possible solutions to the current challenges and their impact on education in Iraq.

The meeting, convened at the request of the Minister of Higher Education and attended by the Minister of Education, the Deputy Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, senior officials from both ministries, the Head of the Advisory Board, and the Executive Director of the Higher Committee for Education Development in Iraq, concluded with several recommendations, including:

▪️ Establishing an operations room to communicate with educational institutions and make appropriate decisions.

▪️ Granting the relevant minister the authority to suspend classes based on developments.

▪️ Adopting a system to compensate for days lost due to forced closures to complete educational requirements during the summer break.

▪️ Urging students to attend classes normally at this time.

The attendees concluded by emphasizing that protecting students and educational staff is a top priority, and that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Education will review the challenges facing the education and higher education sectors in light of regional circumstances.
