The symposium featured a lecture by His Eminence Ayatollah Hadi Al-Modarresi, who discussed the intellectual and doctrinal dimensions of Imam Mahdi (May Allah Hasten His Reappearance) and his role in achieving global justice. He also highlighted the historical and spiritual significance of this blessed occasion, emphasizing the deep relationship between medicine and religious commitment, considering it one of the most critical matters a physician must adhere to, as the medical oath represents religious and national commitment that authorizes them to work with human lives.

The college administration stated that this symposium is part of cultural activities aimed at enhancing religious and intellectual awareness among students and enriching the discussion on important doctrinal issues. On the sidelines of the symposium, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Khaled Khalil Al-Araji, and the administrative assistant of the college, Assistant Professor Dr. Basheer Aqeel Al-Ali, welcomed His Eminence Ayatollah Hadi Al-Modarresi and several prominent figures from the religious seminary at the college administration. They emphasized that medicine and Islamic law are like a ladder leading to a desired goal, with ethical and medical standards working side by side in their work. Additionally, His Eminence Al-Modarresi presented a scientific encyclopedia from his recent publications to Dr. Khaled Al-Araji as an expression of his gratitude and appreciation for the College of Medicine and the University of Karbala, praying for success in serving the city of the Master of Martyrs (Peace be upon him).

At the end of the symposium, attendees participated in discussions, posing several questions and inquiries that enriched the conversation and added a deeper dimension to the topic.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for developing the health sector in Karbala through supporting the College of Medicine and expanding its educational and training programs, positively impacting the quality of medical services provided to citizens.

Mr. Al-Miyali emphasized the governorate’s keenness to support the college and its scientific staff, praising its role in graduating qualified doctors who contribute to improving the level of healthcare. He also congratulated Dr. Al-Araji on his appointment as dean, commending his significant efforts in the health sector and the children’s hospital in the province.

For his part, Dr. Al-Araji welcomed the visit, stressing the importance of continuous communication between governmental institutions and universities to promote sustainable development in the health sector. He highlighted the local administration’s role in enhancing technical and moral support for the university and the college, especially in service of the public good and the holy city of Karbala.

At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to continue coordination and joint cooperation to serve the community and enhance the quality of medical education in the province.

This course was organized in cooperation with the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, the Emergency Department at Karbala Health Directorate, and the Iraq Medical Association/Karbala Branch. It was held under the auspices of the American Heart Association.

The course aims to develop the knowledge, skills, and behavior of young and near-graduation doctors in dealing with emergency situations, loss of consciousness, choking, and more through theoretical lectures and direct practical training. Those who pass the course are awarded two certificates from the American Heart Association (AHA) in ACLS and BLS.

The main lecturer for the course was Dr. Imran Imam, an Emergency Medicine specialist from California, USA, in addition to local trainers from the College of Medicine and Karbala Health Directorate.

The course targeted sixth-year students, newly graduated doctors, and residency doctors.

The workshop included training on the practical clinical examination and important topics in pediatrics, with the participation of a large number of doctors from various governorates of Iraq.

The workshop was supervised by professors of the Scientific Council of the Board in Pediatrics and covered various topics such as respiratory diseases, heart diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and endocrine diseases, in addition to training on clinical skills in pediatrics.

The workshop aimed to develop the skills of doctors and provide them with the knowledge necessary to practice pediatrics and pass the practical exam with the highest quality standards.

This workshop is part of a series of activities and cooperation between the Karbala Doctors Syndicate and various scientific bodies, which aims to develop the level of doctors in the governorate.

The participants in the workshop praised the scientific and organizational level of the workshop and expressed their great benefit from the lectures and practical application.

The Head of Student Activities, Mr. Ahmed Makki, who is also a member of the organizing committee for the tour, emphasized that the tour aims to enhance scouting skills and promote a spirit of cooperation and discipline among students. He explained that it witnessed the participation of 506 students and faculty members, representing our college and 11 other colleges from our university, in addition to the Ahl al-Bayt University and the Safwa University College. This reflects the academic cooperation and teamwork spirit among educational institutions.

The organizing committee of the tour also thanked the Karbala Operations Command, the Karbala Police Command, and the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine for their great efforts in making the scouting tour a success.

In turn, Professor Dr. Khalid Khalil al-Arajji welcomed Dr. al-Saidi and praised his support, commending the progress achieved by the college thanks to the previous wisdom and experience of the university and the college. He also promised that the college would adopt the best plans and promising programs to develop the health and educational system in the college to meet the needs of the health and education sectors in service to our beloved country and the holy city of Karbala.

Dr. Ali Sadeq al-Janabi stated, “Every country in the world relies on scientific research, in addition to the practical application of research, in building its scientific, health, and economic infrastructure. Therefore, the relevant authorities must take into account the importance of developing all sectors of society, whether governmental, joint, or private.”
