In the College of Medicine, University of Karbala, a discussion of the higher diploma thesis of the student doctor (Hind Jawad Kazem) took place within the requirements for obtaining a higher diploma (two calendar years) in family and community medicine. The study was titled:

Psychological Impacts on patients with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Attending Institute of IVF and ART In Baghdad: 2022)
This study aimed to find out the percentage of the psychological effects of depression in patients with polycystic ovaries in women.
The sample of the study included 200 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome who attended outpatient and consulting clinics at the Institute of Infertility and Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Baghdad Governorate for the purpose of receiving treatment and follow-up. The study found that the prevalence of depression symptoms among women with polycystic ovaries reached 77.5%. With the presence of many factors that had a role in increasing this percentage, as it was found that the prevalence of depression was more associated with unemployed women, and those who were obese and overweight, as well as with the presence of health symptoms associated with polycystic ovaries, such as coarse hair, and the appearance of acne.
The study recommended conducting a comprehensive psychological evaluation for all patients suffering from polycystic ovaries in outpatient clinics and following up their regular treatment, as well as spreading a health culture and awareness in primary health care centers through leaflets and advertisements explaining the symptoms and risks of the disease and under the supervision of an experienced health staff, as well as Follow a healthy diet, practice good sports habits, and provide advice that will create a healthy and conscious environment among members of different women’s societies.
The study showed that the role of the family doctor is a link between defining primary health care systems and leading to providing the best services to patients in all its scientific aspects.
After the student presented her research and discussed it by the discussion committee, the esteemed committee decided to accept the study, with an excellent grade.
